Datamart - unable to connect to Azure SQL DB?
Just for the heads up, you CAN connect the Power Bi Desktop to the Azure SQL DB generated by the Datamart with import mode.
Regarding the creation of a dataset from the datamart in the cloud, it auto generates one for you with direct query to build reports. In case you want to build them in a different workspace you need to be member or admin in the workspace of the datamart.
Can you show a picture of the issue? I don't understand from where you are connecting to where and receiving the error. Keep in mind datamarts is preview. If you have an issue connecting to an azure source it can be a problem of firewall on the DB or bug for now.
I hope that helps,
Hi. I don't understand where you are connecting from. You said it's working from PBI Desktop.... that means it works. Just remember there is a limitation for the access. You can only do it with SMSS or Azure Data Studio (regarding DBMS tools)
I hope that helps,
ibarrau I do connect directly from a workspace in the service, as it is supposed to be with datamarts.
If i connect to OneDrive e.g., it is working.
The need to build everything in PBI Desktop is gone with the concept of datamarts, officially announced by MS...so your answer is kind of confusing for me. The example with PBI Desktop was just to show that the credentials, settings and db is okay.
