Dataflows fail to refresh

I've been trying to use Dataflows recently but they all keep failing instantly on refresh. So far I've tried one using SQL Server through a gateway, and a second to an Azure SQL Database. Both setup normally, and the tables from the db get found and are usable in the Power Query interface... but when I actually go to refresh, they fail and the error is simply "Internal error".

Any ideas?

Are there any more errors for the actual data refresh that happens?

Are you able to save the dataflow?

      Thanks GilbertQ...

I wish I could tell you more, but I'm honestly seeing very little. The dataflow saves and everything looks normal. I can go back to it and edit it normally. But whenever I do a refresh - scheduled or manual - it fails instantly (zero seconds). I download the error report and they all just say this:

Error: Internal error Request ID: (GUID redacted) Activity ID: (GUID redacted)

I can't seem to find any further information on the errors or why it won't refresh. Do I need to set anything up with data lake? I haven't done that at all...

        Hi Anonymous,

First of all, please share the Request ID and Activity ID. I can search the log in the Database. Please refresh again to get the latest IDs.

The root cause could be the gateway. The Dataflows only supports one gateway for one Dataflows and all the entities should use the gateway. Usually, we don't define a gateway for the Azure SQL. So please check out and define a gateway for Azure SQL. If you set up the gateway, please select the SQL Server due to there isn't an Azure SQL Server existed.
