Yes I would. Those old formats will require a driver. That means a VM with a gateway and driver in order to read it. If you want to read it from cloud, you should convert it to xlsx.

Just to complement what was already said by ibarrau , in addition to XLSX, XLSM also works (and in case you have any macros enabled on your spreadsheet, XLSM would be a better choice).
