Dashboard tiles do not refresh
Hi alltogether,
I've read through a lot of posts here and maybe I've overread it but I can't find a solution to my problem.
I created a report based on DirectQuery data.
Automatic page refresh is set to 30 min.
There are no slicers on the report.
I now want to pin one visual (for example sales) to a dashboard and I want the tile to be refreshed automatically.
If I just pin the sales visual to the dashboard no refresh happens. If I press F5 still no refresh happens. I need to use the "refresh visuals" button on the dashboard for my tile to show current data.
If I pin the whole page to the same report, it refreshes without me clicking anything (screenshot shows a higher sales amount in the pinned report page, than in the same visual pinned individually).
What am I missing for my tiles to be refreshed automatically?
Thank you in advance.
Hi jamponi ,
The way it is behaving for you is actually the expected behaviour of Power BI Dashboard Tiles.
If you pin individual visuals, it will never refresh automatically since it is a snapshot of data pinned to dashboard.
If you pin complete report, the report will automatically refresh.
The tiles will be refreshed if you refresh the dashboard URL (browser address bar) after performing the scheduled refresh because the tile cache is refreshed.
Give a Thumbs Up if this post helped you in any way and Mark This Post as Solution if it solved your query !!!

Hi Anand24 and thanks for your quick response.
I already thought about that too, but the problem is, that the tiles don't refresh even if I refresh the dashboard URL.
But if I open the dashboard a second time it will display current data and the first version will also display the new data.

jamponi ,
Seems like browser and tile cache are not getting refreshed. Can you give it a go in Incognito mode?
Also, please keep in mind that DirectQuery might require some time to evaluate everything since queries are hitting the DB at run-time.If you still face the issue, you should raise a ticket with Microsoft support and get personalised attention on this. They can confirm if this is a bug or this is expected due to caching.
