dashboard data does not update / auto refresh

I have a single report that I created through powerbi desktop. The report uses Direct Query to an Azure SQL Database. I am showing a simple chart with a very small amount of data (~200 small rows). It works fine.

I published this to powerbi, and I can then login and see this dataset. I have it set to refresh every 15 minutes.  I did 'Pin Live' with this report to create a dashboard. The dashboard does not update no matter how long I wait. I have to open the report, and manually hit the refresh button, and then go back to the dashboard to see new data.

What am I missing here?

  • Hi there

As far as I am aware only dashboard tiles will update on a schedule.

If you pin a live page, it is not a dashboard tile, so the auto refresh settings will not apply.

This is hard to believe.. it would make power bi dashboards nearly useless.

        Hi there

From my understanding by definition a dashboard is always a set of high level items or tiles which allow you to see a few items (no more then 6) at a glance and see how it is performing.

The Live page pretty much defeats the purpose of dashboard, and whilst this can be done, I have always suggested to customers to rather sit down and get dashboard tiles in place which add more value

    Please help me to!

I have created a desktop report and published it to powerbi.com the cloud.

    - live query

    - have set report refresh to 15 minutes.

When the tiles updates they are just blank with the power bi icon?

It have worked earlier, but now it fails???? I need to manually go to the dashboard to refresh...

    Whats wrong here?
