Couldn't load data for this visual

I have embedded a report as a dashboard and am getting the following message when selecting some filters:

Couldn't retrieve the data for this visual. Please try again later.
Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

If I select off the filter and then select the same filter again, it works fine...

Can someone please explain if there is a back-end issue that causes this or whether it's a bug within Power BI?
