content pack doesn't recognize application change
I've noticed that when I re-publish an altered PBI file from desktop to PowerBI.com (either thru "Publish" in desktop or Get Data --> File from PowerBI.com) that sometimes the associated content pack doesn't recognize the change. I have no way of updating the content pack so that shared users get latest changes.
Has anyone else noted this? Perphaps someone could provide me documentation link to exactly what prompts a content pack change?
Thanks,
Ben

Hi bkrywucki,
Do you go to settings>View content pack to check if there is warning icon? Besides, do you rename the PBIX file?
Based on my test, when re-publishing or re-importing an altered PBIX file, you will get the following message which reminds you to update the content pack, the message will disappear after several seconds.
You can directly go to settings>View content pack, a warning icon as shown in the following screenshot will also remind you that some changes have made to this content pack.
You can update the content pack by selecting Edit and then clicking Update button in the following figure.
For more details about updating content pack, please review this article: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-service-organizational-content-packs-manage-update-delete/ .

Hi Lydia,
I commonly replace the same named file (making UI and/or back end changes). I would always expect PBI to prompt me to update the content pack but it doesn't. Sometimes I have to delete the file / content pack and recreate. Very annoying.
So, appreciate the help but I understand the basics here and PBI isn't behaving (sometimes) like I would expect it to.

Hi bkrywucki,
What UI/backend changes do you make? How about directly making these changes in Power BI Service?
Thanks,
