Automatically update app

Hello,

Please can you tell me how to automatically update an app when I overwrite a pbix file with a new version? (I keep uploading updated versions of my pbix file but forget to click on the "update app" button!)

Thank you,

CM

  • Hi Anonymous,

that is unfortunately not an option. You have to explicitly update the App to reflect your changes.
Another way could be to give users Viewer access to the workspace, that's like read-only access. But in that way they do see all the items in the workspace, not only the items published with the App. Is that an option?

Hello there, I have a question in relation to the PBI app. In my scenario, I did not change the charts or visual of my PBI but I constantly have data update. I have configured a data refresh schedule to import data from the data source into the dataset. Question is, if I only have data refresh, do I still need to go into my workspace to click "update app"? I would like to know under what circumstances do we have to click on "update app"?

        Hi symchor,

when data is refreshed, there's no need to update the app.

Only when doing (paginated) report or dashboard changes, you need to update the app.
