"ariaNotify" error since last Friday

Hello all,

I am using a Dataflow Gen 2 for ETL.

Getting Data via SAP BW connector, transform some data (nothing big) and load it into a Azure SQL Server.

The flow did work for over one year, we did nit change anything.

Now it drops an error message and does not work anymore:

Failed to execute 'ariaNotify' on 'Document': Failed to read the 'priority' property from 'AriaNotificationOptions': The provided value 'none' is not a valid enum value of type AriaNotifyPriority.

eact.useCallback(()@webpack://node_modules/@fluentui/react-aria/lib/AriaLiveAnnouncer/useAriaNotifyAnnounce.js:21:23
announce()@webpack://@powerquery/monolith-ui/ClientShared/Scripts/Components/Dialog/DialogRenderer.tsx:33:45

I have other Gen2 flows that are working fine, same setup.

Any idea about this?

  • Hi NovaBI

    Root cause:

This issue comes from the Fabric / Dataflow Gen2 user interface, not your data or transformations.
The UI is trying to run a command document.ariaNotify(..., { priority: "none" }), but "none" isn’t a valid value.
Your dataflow or mashup still works fine - the error only appears when the system tries to show a status message.
So, it’s basically a UI display problem, not a backend or logic issue.

Could you please try below steps:

    1. Ignore & continue - the job usually still executes successfully.

    2. Try another browser / Incognito mode (bypasses cached UI scripts).

    3. Clear cache and reload the designer.

    4. Avoid UI paths that trigger status announcements.

    5. Raise a Microsoft support ticket with session ID, stack trace, and environment details for tracking.

  • Hi NovaBI,

FYI the fix for the issue has been deployed to the majority of production regions, and the deployment should complete in the next few hours. Based on this, you should not encounter anymore the issue.

I did try 1 and 2, it did not help (using another browser or incognite doesnt show the error when saving the target, but it stills fails with an mashup error later when running).

I did raise a ticket, lets see, thanks for the answer.

    Hi NovaBI ,

this a UI regression (see screenshot below) that happens when you add a default destination or a destination for a query, and seems to impact mainly Chrome or Edge since version 141.

The exception is not blocking: you should be able to close the dialog and continue doing your usual actions. Worth also noting that it does not have an impact on dataflow refresh.

We are actively working to fix this, and we should be able to address it by end of week, sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hello NovaBI,

Thank you for reporting the "ariaNotify" error with your Dataflow Gen 2 pipeline. I'm pleased to inform you that the issue has been fully resolved. An emergency hotfix was deployed across all production clusters, completed by October 9, 2025, at 10 PM UTC, updating the Fluent UI library to align with the latest browser ARIA Notify API specifications. This fix addressed the code defect causing the error, which impacted Dataflow Gen 2 and 2.1 but not Power Platform Dataflows.

Your pipeline should now function as expected. Please test and let us know if you encounter any further issues. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

    Best regards,
    Ganesh Singamshetty.
