Helper IIIanalyze in excel dataset access
Hi
I have an excel file that is connected to a certain dataset using analuze in excel.
In the excel file there is a pivot table created from the data
Is it possible to share this file with users having pbi free license and let them interact with powerpivot filters etc?
If no what would be the alternatives to achieve it?
Hi. I haven't tested it but I would say no. When a different user opens the excel, it might ask for azure AD login. If they log in and their account is not shared on the workspace of the dataset it won't load it.
The thing with free licenses is that they are for personal test. You can't share power bi stuff with free.

Based on my test, free users could not use Analyze in Excel feature.
Here are some requirements listed in the official document :
- Analyze in Excel requires that the dataset be in Power BI Premium or that the user have a Power BI Pro license.
- Users can connect to datasets through Analyze in Excel if they have permission for the underlying dataset. A user could have this permission in a few ways, such as having the Member role in the workspace containing the dataset, or having Build permission for a dataset in a workspace or in an app that contains the dataset.
