PowerBI Personal Gateway install error - Sequence contains no elements

Hi folks  Can't seem to install the latest update of the Personal Gateway... To be honest I find this the flakiest and weakest element of PowerBI. Everytime theres a new version I have to uninstall ...

I have also an open ticket with "Power BI Basic Support". They're still working on it.

We solved the issue of being unable to uninstall using a tool called CCleaner, you can find it on CNET and others, be aware it's full of adware and cruft.

 

But it worked!

 

Also, make sure you clean out C:\Programdata\Microsoft\Data Transfer after any uninstall, just to ensure it's a fresh install.

    I usually use CCleaner, but it didn't work for my case.

    I managed to solved the issue thanks to the Microsoft support's team :

     

    The product engineer was able to confirm that if we are not seeing the Data Management Gateway Service in Services.msc then there was probably an issue with install. We would ask that you uninstall the gateway one more time and reinstall from the following link  :

If this still does not work, then we will want to collect the logs from the following location:

C:\Users\<useraccount>\AppData\Local\Temp, looking for files like: Power_BI_Gateway_*.log
