Need Assistance Power Query
Hi everyone, I hope you are doing fine. I'm struggling to display the data to the Power BI Desktop from my computer. After opening Power BI Desktop and go to Get Data, the imported file can't display at the Power Query Editor to preview the data, you will see the file 01-Starter-Sales Analysis, but no data will not appear. If you go to the File Explorer, you will see save as 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix. Even 01-Solution-Sales Analysis.pbix all these two files can't be appeared as CSV when you go to Get Data. However, there is a dropdown where you see csv and all files. All files there you can see 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix. 01-Solution-Sales Analysis.pbix thus make it difficult for me as a beginner. Please your feedback is needed.
Hi,
I think there is some confusion here. A PBIX file is a report file, it is not a data file. PBIX stores the report layout and power query and dax, but it is not a CSV file and is not a data file.
Can you explain more what you're trying to do and where you're trying to get data from?

The issue is that .pbix is a Power BI report file, not a CSV/data file.
You cannot import a .pbix file through Get Data → Text/CSV.
If 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix is your Power BI report:
Open the .pbix file directly in Power BI Desktop.
Go to Home → Transform data to open Power Query.
If your exercise expects a CSV file, you need the original .csv file (for example, Sales.csv), not the .pbix.
In Get Data, select Text/CSV and browse to the actual .csv file.
The All Files option showing .pbix doesn't mean Power BI can treat it as a CSV. It is simply showing all files in that folder.

Hi Ibraka
The main issue here is that a .pbix file is the Power BI report itself, not a CSV or raw data file. You cannot import a PBIX through Get Data → Text/CSV. If 01-Starter-Sales Analysis.pbix is the report provided for the exercise, open it directly in Power BI Desktop, then go to Home → Transform data to access the Power Query queries and source data. If the exercise specifically asks you to import a CSV, you need the original .csv file, such as Sales.csv; the PBIX cannot be used as a replacement for that source file. The fact that the PBIX appears when browsing under “All Files” does not mean Power BI can treat it as a CSV—it is simply displaying the files available in that folder.
