Issue with Ctrl + Click on Bookmark Button

Hello,

I'm having trouble using Ctrl + Click to trigger a button linked to a bookmark in Power BI Desktop.

Here are the steps I followed:

  • I created a bookmark (Clear Filters) and confirmed that it works when I click it from the Bookmarks Pane.
  • I added a button, enabled the Action option, linked it to the Clear Filters bookmark, and even added a tooltip.
  • However, when I Ctrl + Click the button, it does not work. Instead, it only shows three options: Group, Summarize, and Format.

Additional note: It does work with Ctrl + Enter, but not with Ctrl + Click.

If anyone has a solution for this, I’d really appreciate the help!

Thanks in advance.

  • Hello dataguapa

Thank you for your response and for confirming the troubleshooting steps you have already taken.

I have tested the functionality on my end, and the button works as expected in Power BI Desktop. Since it functions correctly in the Power BI Service but not in Desktop, the issue may be related to your local environment. I recommend checking for any system-specific factors.

  • Hi dataguapa Ctrl + Click on Bookmark Button works, try checking the button (without Ctrl) in the service, it should work normally.

I have tested creating a bookmark button in Power BI Desktop, and it is working as expected. To ensure the button functions correctly on your end, please check the following:

    1. Action Settings: Ensure that the button's Action is turned ON in the Format Pane > Action section.
    2.  Verify that the button is correctly linked to the intended bookmark.
    3.  Ensure you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop, as updates may include fixes for any related issues.

If the issue persists, could you please share the PBIX file if possible? This would help us better understand the problem and provide a more accurate solution.Looking forward to your response.

      Hi, Thanks for your response!

      To answer your questions:

Action Settings: The Action is turned ON in the Format Pane. I have also tested linking the button to different bookmarks and even external URLs, but I still get the same issue.

Bookmark Link: I have tried linking the button to multiple bookmarks, and the issue persists.

Power BI Version: I have already reinstalled Power BI to ensure I am using the latest version.

The button works fine in the Power BI Service, but it does not work in Power BI Desktop. This is frustrating because I need to go to the Service every time to test the functionality.

Would you have any further recommendations?
