Working on it + frozen > force stop

Hi,

Power BI desktop freezes very often lately. No pattern, totally random. Anyone else has that issue?

Hi, no support case raised, but I did not have the issue in a while, I suppose it's resolved

I am also having this problem across multiple machines in my team.

Doesn't matter if the file is big or small this is 100% a bug in the most recent update.

    hi JulienZH ,

I typically haven't experienced this too much, unless my pbix size is huge ( ~300-400 MB +, until 1gb )

if it is not responding due to updating visuals, some ways to reduce this is using the "Optimize tab" and pausing visuals and test if this reduces freequency,

    Hi JulienZH,

Thankyou for raising this and great insights already shared by adudani.

Freezing in Power BI Desktop can indeed happen with large PBIX files or complex visuals. Using the Optimize tab to pause visuals, and checking your report with Performance Analyzer are very effective steps. Also, disabling preview features and regularly clearing the cache can help reduce these occurrences.

Additionally, from our side, we recommend ensuring that you're on the latest version of Power BI Desktop and testing in a new PBIX if freezing continues, to rule out file corruption.

Thanks, but this has nothing to do with my file. It's related to the Feb update most likely - see the comments on the blog post of the March update. Other people have this since recently, reverting to Jan update helped.

Would be good if Microsoft fixes whatever they've broken.
