Web Report doesn't update properly a second time
Hello community!
I control a simple dashboard, about 2 years by now, without any complex code. I update it two times a month. I use the publish on the web function.
Whenever I publish the update, for the first time in the day, it's goes well. If, after I publish the first update, I need to make a correction and publish a second update in that same day, the second one takes a really long time to update, up to 40 minutes.
I'm not talking about the web version of PowerBi, that works great, updates are instantaneous. I'm talking about the published reports.
It's a simple report, it doesn't have any complex code or anything very advanced. It doesn't have any third party visual tools.
Does anybody knows why this is happening?
This is expected behavior with Publish to Web. The public embed is served through a CDN cache with roughly a one-hour lifetime, so the very first publish of the day is fast because nothing is cached yet. When you republish shortly after, the previous copy is still cached on the edge nodes and it can take up to about an hour before viewers see the updated version worldwide.
There is no manual purge for that cache. If you need faster propagation for corrections during the same day, one option is to share the report through the Power BI service (Publish or an Embed for your organization) and reserve Publish to Web for the final version.
