view dax query behind visual
Hi powerbiexpert22 ,
Unfortunately PowerBI can't directly show the DAX query for a visual in the UI, but you can capture it using DAX Studio.
1. DAX Query behind visualConnect DAX Studio to your Power BI Desktop file.
Select the model → “All Queries.”
Interact with the visual in Power BI.
In DAX Studio: Server Timings → Start → Interact → Stop.
DAX Studio shows the exact DAX query sent to VertiPaq.
2. Measures
Measures are evaluated only in context; no standalone query exists.
You can:
View the measure formula in the editor.
Capture its DAX when used in a visual (via DAX Studio or Performance Analyzer).
3. Calculated columns
Computed at refresh and stored in the model.
No runtime query exists; only the formula is visible.
4. Calculated tables
Evaluated once at refresh and stored.
No dynamic query exists; only the table’s DAX formula is available.
