Verify Increment Refresh

Hi,

 

We are working on Power BI migration from tenant A to tenant B.

Need to migrated all workspace, reports, etc..

 

How to verify the Increment Refresh is enabled or not in the report.

Eg.. Go to the model view, right click the table and click incremental refresh.

Is this the way or any other way..

    Ways to check if Incremental Refresh is enabled in Power BI:

    • Go to Model View in Power BI Desktop

      • Right-click the table

      • Click "Incremental refresh"

      • If a settings window opens, it's already enabled

    • Check for parameters

      • Go to Transform Data > Manage Parameters

      • Look for RangeStart and RangeEnd

      • Their presence suggests incremental refresh might be configured

    • In Power BI Service after publishing

      • Go to Dataset Settings

      • Expand the Scheduled Refresh section

      • Look for messages about how many rows were refreshed

    • Use Tabular Editor

      • Open the model in Tabular Editor

      • Select the table and view its partitions

      • If partitions reference RangeStart and RangeEnd, incremental refresh is enabled

    YashikaAgrawal , You can also check in Power BI service

     

    Navigate to the Dataset: Go to the Power BI service and navigate to the workspace containing the dataset.
    Settings: Click on the ellipsis (...) next to the dataset and select "Settings".
    Incremental Refresh: In the settings pane, look for the "Incremental refresh" section to see if it is enabled and configured.

    Hello YashikaAgrawal,

     

    Yes, this is one correct way.

     

    Alternatively, in Power BI Desktop, go to Home > Manage Parameters (confirm if RangeStart and RangeEnd parameters exist)... Then, Transform Data and inspect if filters are applied using those parameters in the table.

     

    Another way is to use XMLA + Tabular Editor/SSMS in Power BI Service to check for partitions in the table.

    What you mentioned is indeed the way to verify it using Power BI Desktop. Here are the detailed steps:

    1. Go to Model View

    2. Right-click the relevant table

    3. If "Incremental Refresh" appears in the context menu, click on it

    4. A dialog will open showing whether Incremental Refresh is enabled, along with its current settings
