usage metrics dataset connection
I have created a copy of the usage metrics report and renamed it and the dataset and now want to connect to the dataset using the Power BI datasets connector. I can connect to all the other datasets in the workspace but when I try and connect to the usage metrics one get the following message repeated many times:
An error occurred while loading the model for the item or data source 'OpenConnectionError'. Verify that the connection information is correct and that you have permissions to access the data source.
What am I doing wrong? I have given myself read/reshare permissions on this dataset but it seems to work differently from those published with other reports.
Sorry I forgot to mention I was doing this from a server through a remote desktop connection. I have just tried installing the Oct 2018 desktop on my local machine and I can connect to all the datasets including the usage metrics so it must be a setup issue our side.
Thanks for your help.

Hi DanP,
I could connect to the copy of the usage metrics model from Power BI desktop successfully. I was not able to reproduce your problem in October 2018 release. Could you please update your desktop version for a test? Also, were you able to connect to the usage metrics model of any other published report or dashbaord?

I am using the Oct 2018 PBI desktop to try and connect. It looks like I can only connect to datasets with a live connection to SSAS databases on our site not those that were deployed with their data to the PBI service. Could this be a gateway or firewall issue?
Thanks
Danny
