Updating "Entered Data" using a What If parameter

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if you could please offer me some advice on updating "Entered Date" (i.e. data that I have manually entered into a table within Power BI) using a What If parameter.

The image below shows what I'm trying to achieve. I have entered the "Class of" years into a table and I would like the What If slicer on the right hand side to influence what is shown for a particular year in the table. So, if the size of 1903 should be 50 then I want 50 to show in the Estimated Size column within the table visual. Likewise, if the size of 1920 is 60, then I want 60 to show.

It seems that whatever I enter in the slicer (in this case 54) update all the years, and I can find no way of just selecting one of the years and updating that.

Any help would be much appreciated, although I'm not sure if what I want to do is actually possible in Power BI.

Many thanks
Jon

  • jonclay , If you are trying to create a new column or create a table based on a slicer value, that is not possible.

    You can create a new measure =

    add days  = max(Table[Date])  + [Whatif measure]

    Hi jonclay ,

    I agree with amitchandak . Since a what-if parameter is dynamic, an entered column is static, it's not possible to change column values based on a selection in slicer.

    And according to your description, please use the measure built after creating the parameter like :

    Measure= IF(MAX('TABLE'[Class of])=1920,50,MAX('TABLE'[SIZE]))

    Best Regards,
