Helper ITwo Tables Different Data, Need common slicer filter
I have created a report with multiple tables.
Table One will have spend and financial data
Table Two will have metrics and performance data
In both case when I apply the common name to the slicer
I have data from tabel 1 and tabe 2 on same page, the slicer filter on name only works for one table
I have linked the name in both tables and made relationship acitve but for some reason it is not working.
Names are the same
Is there a better way to link the names and create a common slicer between two tables please?
Try changing the cross filtering on both and also check for any errors on the strings, sometiimes, Power BI identifies some values with spaces or additional characters, thus, considering it a different value.
Use the Trim, Clean features on Power Query and also try duplicating both key columns and deleting the older ones to see if that fixes the error.

A common slicer will work as long as you have the adequate relationships and cross filtering. How are you currently relating both tables?

Hi Ray, I am currently relating the tables the "normal way" PowerBi has found them matching. So the data magtches and can be linked, but when i go to filter on the slicer it only works on one table not both visuals when doing a bar chart. Or table. Strangely it works on Certian names not others. Very unusal for what as I have not found this issue before

Are the key columns text type? Also, is cross filtered set to single or both?

you create a new table for names that has all the names without duplication and then link this table to both tables by name, thus you could filter both tables using the name column from the new table.

Thank you I did try this earlier to create a table with names but it did not work
any idea what I am doing wrong
table created as a new table with names as unique items then linked one to many with one being the table with names etc
