To answer your 1st question that is a known limitation in matrix please read this Matrix Table resizing columns with Autosize column... - Microsoft Fabric Community
To overcome this you can add a measure to add spaces like - ColumnWidth = REPT("0", 16)
For 2nd I don't have the idea, ideally it should not change until the refresh is completed.

Solution SageThanks for finding that, AnkitKukreja. Not a satisfying answer, but I guess that's where things stand at the moment.
I got a response to my second question on the Service forums, so I'll consider this completed.
