Tooltip Accessibility how to trigger?
This feels like it should be something simple but I'm running into a wall.
When using the accessibility features of PBI https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-accessibility-keyboard-shortcuts
Is there anyway to trigger a tooltip? The type that you see when you mouse over a data point in a visual?
I can't locate anyway to enage the "mouse over" effect that makes a tooltip pop up.

Workaround for Triggering Tooltips via Click in Power BITo replicate a click-triggered tooltip, you can use tooltip pages in combination with buttons and bookmarks:
Configure a Tooltip PageCreate a new report page.
Enable Tooltip under Page Information.
Adjust Page Size to Tooltip.
Design the Tooltip
Add relevant visuals and text for your tooltip.
Maintain a concise layout for readability.
Set Up Click Trigger
Insert a Button or Shape on your main page.
Configure the Action to Bookmark.
Create a bookmark to display the tooltip page.
Add Tooltip Closure
Include a Close button on the tooltip page to return to the main page.
Enable Dynamic Filtering (Optional):Apply slicers or field parameters to dynamically filter the tooltip page based on the selected data point.
Outcome:
Clicking the button displays the tooltip page; clicking again closes it, effectively simulating the tooltip experience.

You need to select the data points and then CTRL + H for example if you are in a bar chart what you would need to follow is the following:
- Enter - Enter a layer
- Arrows up or dow to select axis or bars
- Enter - Enter the bar layer
- Left and right arrow to select the specific value
- CTRL + H to show tooltip
When I do CTRL+H it keeps opening the history of Microsoft Edge
Be aware that you need to be inside the context of the visual you need to follow the steps has I refered or select the region with the mouse if you do not enter the layer of the visual it will not work.
Please check the gif below with an example:
If you select a specific column in this example with mouse click it will also work for the CTRL+H
Power BI doesn't support keyboard-triggered tooltips directly. You can't simulate "hover" via keyboard.
Workaround:
- Use Ctrl + H to toggle tooltip visibility (works in limited cases).
- Use Alt + Shift + F11 to open "Show Data" for tooltip-like info.
- For better accessibility, use report page tooltips triggered by click or selection.
Can you provide a link to the report page tooltips on how to trigger via click? I've only seen tooltips work via hover not click?
