But when I am trying to bring that column in a card getting above error as well. I am not understanding could you please help me.

Also getting below error in power bi desktop this column coming under the table which as direct query mode and schedule refresh happens successfully.

Hi ShahRukhSameer Thank you for your response after downloading this report from service while refresh this report with schema & data the error has gone it came to normal mode without any issue. I am not understanding is it a glitch or something also happened internally I am still on confusion.

  • Hi ManasRout,

I suspect Power BI is still trying to reference a field called "date" somewhere in the query, even though that field may no longer exist or has been renamed.

Since the visual works as soon as you remove the column, the issue is most likely tied specifically to that field rather than the report itself.

    A few things I'd check:

    • Make sure the column still exists in the source with exactly the same name.
    • Review any measures, calculated columns, or custom SQL queries that reference this column.
    • If you're using DirectQuery, check whether the underlying view or table was recently modified.
    • Look at any relationships or "Sort by Column" settings involving that field.
    • Refresh the model metadata and see if Power BI is still holding an old reference.

    The error message:

"The name 'date' doesn't exist in the current context"

usually means that somewhere in the generated query Power BI is expecting a column named "date", but the source can't resolve it.

A quick test would be to create a brand new table visual and add only that column. If it still errors, then the problem is likely at the source/query level rather than the visual itself.

Can you share what the backend source is (SQL Server, Oracle, Databricks, etc.) and whether this is a physical column, calculated column, or a measure? That should make it easier to narrow down where the reference to "date" is coming from.
