Stop query from checking all unnecessary sheets when refreshing

Dear all,

I have a series of small excel files that I combine every month.

These files only have about 10-15 sheets without a lot of data.

However, when I import them in PowerBI I can see that there are a lot of other "hidden" items in these files.

In my sample file, I have filtered these items to keep only the sheets I want to use:

The issue is that everytime I refresh my query, the refresh still go through all these unknown sheets that have apparently millions of records and it takes ages to refresh.

My files are lest than 2MO, so I don't even know where do these tabs with millions of records come from.

Is there any way so that only the selected sheets in my sample file are checked when I refresh the query ?

Thank for your help,

Henri

  • Anonymous , Open in power query and check what all tables have been imported. You should be able to see the sources for the table. If there some tables which are not using delete those

      Hi Amitchandak,

Thanks, but I don't really understand your solution.

I have already filtered the tables that I am not using in power query as you can see in my 2nd image.

The issue is that even filtered in my sample file in power query, when refreshing the system still go through these 150+ tables when I am using only the 10 filtered.

Sorry if I am not clear.
