Some Fields don't Allow for Average

I'm working with a table that contains scores for different categories, along with a total score (out of 100).

I'm putting together a visual that works with the average scores for various categories filtered by location.

For some of these fields, everything works fine, but for some, I'm not allowed to pick the average. Examples below.

On the left, I'm allowed to pick average, whereas on the right I'm not.

Is there a reason for this and a way to get around it?

I'm very new to Power BI, so if this is an easy question, I apologize, but I couldn't find a solution anywhere!
