The SharePoint folder connector is meant to expand files, not get metadata. Try the SharePoint list connector instead (yes I realize it's a library - trust me). If you need both the file content and the metadata, you can do two queries and merge them to combine.
I'm experiencing a similar issue.
Could you please advise on how to retrieve files within folders and the values of additional columns?
With SharePoint lists, I can't view the contents inside folders.
