Replace Databases

Greetings Companions

I have a dilemma, I have a dashboard which was made with a database that was made in a test way, however given the complexity of what was required of us to see if it was viable we invested too much time to the formulas within this "Test" base, now they give us the Real base which has the same columns with the same names. My question is: Is there a way to replace the "proof" basis with the Real one, so that automatically all formulas consider the new basis instead of the old one?

I appreciate your support

  • Hi Syndicate_Admin

Go into the query editor (Transform Data) click on the Data Source Options.

Click on the database and choose change source:

Change the name of the database

If everything is the same it should swap over 🙂 please make a back up of the pbix before changing

    Hi Syndicate_Admin ,

I think you can follow SamWiseOwl's reply to change data source. Note: backup your file is important.

According to your statement, I think you also can try to create and use report templates in Power BI Desktop.

With Power BI Desktop templates, you can streamline your work by creating a report template, based on an existing template, which you or other users in your organization can use as a starting point for a new report's layout, data model, and queries. Templates in Power BI Desktop help jump-start and standardize report creation.

For reference: Create and use report templates in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

        Hi Anonymous

They did over on the spanish forum, I've noticed that Kudous and Solutions don't seem to transfer between languages.
