I'm wondering if there is a there a way to remove the version requirement for pbix files. Thanks in advance!

There is not, no. Can you not update to the current release of PowerBI desktop?

It's better to download the latest version of power bi since there's alot of things that you can benefit from.

No there is not. The workaround is to ensure that you are on the latest build. Asking the same question, if you are not able to upgrade for some reason.
