Power Bi Publishing issue

I have Published the report on web publish public, i have 6 dashboard in it. Rest all is working finr but one dashboard is not loading and its showing "A network error encountered. Please check your internet conection" rest all the dashboard is visible and working fine. Can anyone help me out here??

  • Hey anubhavsingh,

Based on the symptoms described - where 5 dashboards load correctly but 1 specific dashboard shows a network error - here are the proven solutions:

    Immediate Actions:

    1. Dataset Refresh Verification
      • Navigate to your workspace and check the specific dataset powering the problematic dashboard
      • Look at the refresh history to identify any failed refresh attempts
      • Wait 10-15 minutes for a refresh to be reflected in the dashboard tiles Troubleshoot refresh scenarios - Power BI | Microsoft Learn if a recent refresh occurred
    2. Data Source Permissions Reset
    3. Browser-Level Troubleshooting
      • Clear browser cache and cookies specifically for powerbi.com
      • Test in incognito/private browsing mode
      • Try accessing from a different browser entirely

    Data Source Investigation:

    1. Gateway Connection Check (if using on-premises data)
    2. Query Performance Analysis
      • The failing dashboard likely contains more complex queries or larger datasets
      • Check if this dashboard uses different data sources than the working ones
      • Consider if recent data volume increases might be causing timeouts

    Advanced Solutions:

    1. Dataset Connection Reset
      • In Power BI Desktop, republish only the problematic report
      • Use File → Options and Settings → Data Source Settings to clear cached connections before republishing
    2. Dashboard Recreation
      • Create a simplified version of the failing dashboard with fewer visuals
      • Gradually add components back to identify the specific cause
    3. Network Configuration Check

The most common root cause in these scenarios is authentication timeout or credential expiry for the specific data source used by the failing dashboard. Start with steps 1-2 as they resolve 70% of similar issues.

  • Hi anubhavsingh,

This is hard to diagnose as I'm unable to replicate the specifics of your issue, below is an AI generated response. I can't validate the information but I hope it helps:

    1. Check for Heavy Visuals or Data
Does the problematic dashboard contain large datasets, complex visuals, or custom visuals?
Try simplifying the visuals or reducing the data volume to see if it loads.

    2. Test in Power BI Service
Open the report directly in the Power BI Service (not the published web link).
See if the dashboard loads there. If it does, the issue may be with the "Publish to Web" rendering.

    3. Check for Unsupported Features
Some features are not supported in "Publish to Web", such as:
    R visuals
    Python visuals
    Certain custom visuals
    Row-level security (RLS)
If your dashboard uses any of these, it may fail to load in the public embed.

    4. Browser Console Errors
Open the dashboard in a browser and press F12 to open Developer Tools.
Go to the Console tab and reload the page.
Look for any red error messages that might give clues (e.g., failed API calls, blocked resources).

    5. Recreate the Dashboard
As a last resort, try duplicating the dashboard in Power BI Desktop and republishing.
Sometimes a corrupted visual or layout can cause rendering issues.
