power bi matrix - support 2 data types in same measure
Hello all.
I have a power BI matrix. where in the value section I need to support 2 types of values: weburl and text. each column in the matrix will prodcue only one type (e.g. one column will show the webURL picture and another column will show text like "type").
I know I can perform that in 2 measure but that looks really bad indetation wise.
I tried to do it in one measure - but it does not support both data types. I cannot turn the text to image as there are countless options.
With the release of icons I though I overcame this :) I created one measure of text type with the image being the icon. that way in text column i have text value and in picture column i color the text same as backround and only see the icon -the probalm with that is that Icon cannot be centered with text (only without) and it looks very bad....
Any idea how I can get this?? Ideally I need one measure supporting both and having the picture CENTERED.

Hi, can you tell us a bit more about the requirement here? because as far as I can read you don't need a matrix you just need a table. The main difference between them is that the matrix will aggregate the values by columns or rows. The table will let you have the option of "Don't Summarize" in order to add columns with text or urls.

I have to use matrix as my data is key value (meaning not preminenet number of columns). we were asked to allow users to filter columns (so we use column name in the pivot column and the value in values and use column name as filter as well.
Assum it has to be pivot - do you have any idea on resolution? thanks!!

Ok. About two values in one measure rendering image, I don't think it's possible. You may be able to concatenate the max of text of url and type in one measure but not rendering image. You should use two measures if you want the image url to show the picture in the matrix (using a measure with max and categorizing it as image url, then in format activate "url icon" for values)
