Power BI - Visual Level export - "Data with Current layout" Export is disabled for Service Account

Hello All,

When we login to Power BI  with our ID (User ID), then we are able to export the data (Data with Current layout) but when login to power BI using Service Account then we are not able to export (Data with Current layout). Export Button is disabled. We have given build permission to both dashboard & dataset to Service Account. Dashboard can be accessed by Anyone in the Organization.

Could you help us in resolving the issue.

Thanks,

PBI V2

Hi,Anonymous .I am glad to help you.
May I ask what type of User ID account you are referring to and can you give me an example.
I was under the impression that a Microsoft 365 account is generally used as the login account for Power BI Service.
In your description, service account seems to mean Microsoft 365 account.
    Such as:
    [email protected]

You mentioned that you can export visual when logging in with one type of account (User ID), but when using a Power BI Service account, it doesn't export properly (like : [email protected])
Here is my analysis of your problem:

If the tenants where the two accounts (User ID and Service Account) are located have different configurations in the Power BI Administrator Settings(Admin Portal), then this may result in inconsistent behavior of the export feature.
You need to contact the IT department in your team to check if the visual level “Export Current Data” is disabled in the admin portal.
Check that reports with export issues have not been designed with restrictions in place.
Are there any RLS or other settings that prevent users from accessing/exporting report data.

Export data from a Power BI visualization - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Setting up RLS and Data protection can also cause problems, I think you can start by checking how the report itself is set up in Power BI Desktop, and also checking the settings in Power BI Service.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
    Best Regards,
    Carson Jian,
