Numeric Range Slicing for Ranking

Hi Community,

 

I have created a list of ranks using a new measure/column. I want to filter the stacked bar chart using a numeric slider.

 

Due to discrete ranks, I am unable to get the Options like 'Between', 'Less than' or 'Greater than'. I just have either dropdown or list.

This is my current situation: 

 

 But I want my filter to be something like this:

 

 

 

So that I can customize the Top Agent Ranks according to the number of Top x agents, I want to be able to choose using the slider whether I want Top 5 or Top 10 or Top 12, etc.

 

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Anonymous and v-jiascu-msft,

     

    Finally figured out that Numeric Range Slicer is an Optional Preview Feature which I had to turn on from File -> Option and Settings -> Options -> Under Global - Preview Features.

    Hi,

     

    I've just done a little repro.

     

    Step by step:

     

    1. I created a table:

     

    Country       Value

    Poland10
    Russia20
    Ukraine30
    Germany40
    USA35
    UK11

     

    2. Then I created a calculated column:

     

     

    Rank = RANKX(Table1;Table1[Value];;DESC)

    3. Then I simply created a slicer based on the Rank column (with "Less than or equal" set as a rule for a slider) in my report and here is what I saw:

     

     Top with rank

    I'm not sure why you are not able to set the slicer with a slider.

     

    My Rank calculated column is of a Whole Number type. I'm using Power BI Desktop June 2017 update.

    Hi tej,

     

    Did you use the "Numeric range slicer" in Power BI Service? This feature isn't supported in Service by now.  Please reference this document: powerbi-desktop-slicer-numeric-range

     

    "Currently the numeric range slicer is only available in Power BI Desktop. If a report that uses the numeric range slicer is published to the Power BI service, the filter will still be applied but it will appear as a list slicer."

    Hey v-jiascu-msft and Anonymous,

     

    I can't see the slicer option. I have blurred the names in the stacked bar chart due to privacy concerns but please check the attached screenshot. The numeric slicer is missing totally. I had to copy this slicer from other report in the same powerbi file and then edit the field to RankofAgent. Why is the numeric slicer option missing?

     

    No Slicer Option at all!

     Is Power BI at fault here?

      Hi tej,

       

      I would verify if the RankOfAgent column is numeric (select it in the Fields section on the right and go to the Modeling menu at the top ribbon).
