Maps only working with filter

I'm working with Desktop and have just started finding that my maps will only work if I add a filter (e.g. Latitude < 90). Otherwise I get the "Map and filled map visuals aren't enabled" error. The "Use maps and visuals" is enabled under the Security options, which seems to be the usual problem, so I'm stumped. I've tried clearing the browser cache, restarting, creating a new report, no luck.

Note - I have been out of PowerBI for a couple of months so these are reports that were created in December. I'm guessing there's something new in a PowerBI update that has come out recently perhaps...

Any suggestions appreciated!

  • OK I found the solution. I went to my Admin settings for PowerBI in Office 365 and had to change the tenant setting there as well, so it looks like only changing the Maps/Visuals permission on Desktop doesn't solve it, and actually makes it a bit more confusing because the maps work when you change a filter in PowerBI desktop.

    Hey mfed ,

usually you wouldn't have to filter.

Can you post an example file of your issue? Can you make sure there is summarization of the values?

    Thank you and best regards

    Denis

Sure - how do I go about posting the file? Sorry probably something obvious but I don't see an option to add a file in the comments here.
