LOOKUPVALUE ERROR

Hi I'm trying to look up a region(text type) and assocaite zipcode to it, in Table 1 from Table 2 where both zipcode(whole number type) and region(text type) are present.

Can anyone please help me undertand how to write the formula. It gives me errors. Also this is my first day in Power BI, so if this looks like a stupid question please excuse me.

    Hi drallam,


    You can create a calculated column using the formula, please try and check if it returns expected result.

    associate zipcode=LOOKUPVALUE(Table[zipcode],Table[region],"the region wanted")


    If not, what's your error message? And what does your resource table look like? Could you please share your sample table or details for further analysis?

      thank you. It worked. I was thinking to enter a value in the <search_value> field. I specified the column and worked perfect.

       

      I also figured out a workaround until in this mean time. I used RELATED function and specified that table. It pulled in the zipcodes i needed.
