Help with Matrix

Hi,

I'm hoping to represent my data in such a way where my columns are the first row going down, and the headers are dates, something similar to the pivot table I created in Excel:

I've tried using a matrix, but when I do so the first row appears blank, and adding more variables only messes it up further:

Am I arranging the fields incorrectly, or is there anyway I can transpose the table on the right?
