Help needed with connecting data source, in browser data source valid and in desktop app error

Hi all,


i'm trying to connect to an MySQL database. According to powerbi.microsoft I have successfully added the gateway and MySQL data source




 

 

 

 

I then want to create a dashboard with this data source. When I try to connect with the same data (server, database name, credentials) from PowerBI Dekstop, I get the following message:


"An error happened while reading data from the provider: 'Could not load file or assembly 'Renci.SshNet, Version=2016.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=1cee9f8bde3db106' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."



Anyone an idea how i can fix this? I already installed mysql-connector-net-8.0.16.msi

    Hi Anonymous ,

     

    Before you can connect to a MySQL database, you need to install MySQL Connector/Net 6.6.5 for Microsoft Windows on your computer. Select the driver that matches your Power BI Desktop installation (32-bit or 64-bit). I found the latest version is 8.0.17.

    After installing the MySQL connector, refer to this blog to connect to MySQL in Power BI Desktop. You need to provide database credentials not windows.
