get max date from before to selected date

Hi all,

I have a visual that is filtered by a slicer that selects the year and a month. This shows me a table with a list of transactions and dates. I can get the minimum date by creating a measure like MIN(<date column>). This would return a date that is the first date within the month that is selected in the slicer. 

How can I return the next previous date so that I am displaying the maximum date of all the dates prior to the ones filtered by the slicer?
