Export "data with current layout" gives wrong column order

So, for example the PBIX is showing:

If I export using "Summarized data", this problem does not occur, if I use "Data with current layout" I do experience the issue, very annoying!

I see a different order:

So, if the pbix has col1, col2, col3 displayed, the export in excel will have col3, col1, col2.

ps: not sure if it makes a difference but the .pbix consumes from a SSAS cube.

Anonymous that's really weird. I would recommend opening a support ticket and filing it as a bug. Not sure what else to tell.

I've got the same problem with "data with current layout" feature that was added recently to public preview. Column order in exported Excel files is different then in web browser. My Power BI reports connect to onprem SSAS tabular model. 

I've figured out that you need to remove at least one column from the table, then add it again to table. Upload the report, and the export works just fine. Try if it works for you as well.

I think it's probably a problem with metadata in Power BI .pbix file.

Having this same problem (in 2025). The order of columns as they appear in my Matrix is not the order when exported.

What I've found is that PBI seems to export in the order that the columns were added. So if I add Column A, then Column C, then Column B and rearrange it to Column A > Column B > Column C the exported order will be A, C, B (as that's how I added them). If I add them initially as Colum A, then Column B, then Column C they will export as expected. This means that, for my Matrix with 11 columns that I can't mistakingly place one in the wrong order (or otherwise change my mind) and simply re-arrange it. I have to order them correctly the first time through or re-do it entirely.
