Error when Appling filter to compare dates between two tables

I  need to calculate a result where the dates between two table are equal. I'm getting the following error. Is there another DAX formula to accomplish this? Thanks

Hi Anonymous ,

Please try to modify the measure.

result=
var max_rowdate=max('table1'[date])
return 
calculate(sum('table1'[valuea])+sum('table2'[valueb]),'table1'[date]=selectedvalue('table2'[date]))

    This is an exemple of what I'm attempting to do.  I need to get a rolling total by month for the Result measure as below. However in my pbix I can't seem to link the dates between the tables ( it breaks other relationships)  so I'm hoping it can be accomplished in the Result measure.  

             ValueA                ValueB         Result

    Jan         5                        2                 7

    Feb        3                        1                 11

    Mar       4                        1                 16
