Error unable to refresh dataset

Each and every month I have to use Power Bi I get stuck around the same error but different scenarios. I'm at a point where I am seriously considering asking my company to shop for a replacement. Some of these issues just make no sense. Well here it is:

I have an excel dataset that I use and update each month. One of my tables constantly changes either new columns are put in or removed. 

Typically when a new column is removed I get an error letting me know Power Bi can't find the column when I try to refresh my dataset and I have to go into advanced editor and find where that column is referenced and remove it manually then refresh.

This time I'm having the opposite problem but the same **bleep** error telling me a column is missing when I try to refresh when it's a newly added column to my excel table which my dataset is linked to. I've gone into the advanced editor and try to manually add the new column and still getting the same error and unable to refresh my data.

My first question: 

1. Is there a way possible to refresh my data and just have Power Bi ignore what columns and can or can't find? Most of the time the columns that it gets stuck on are columns I don't even use for my reports. The spreadsheet is a dump that I get from our ticketing system to sthe columns that are added and sometimes removed are beyond my control but the columns I need for my reporting are always there.

2. If there isn't a way to refresh regardless of errors, is it possible to just have PowerBi only care about just certain columns so it can just ignore whatever columns I am not asking for? I would assume I can do that in the advanced editor but judging from this current problem that doesn't seem to be the case.
