Error Getting Data - Cannot load navigator - flickering screen
Hi Community, for some reason, I get a flickering screen when trying to get data from SQL server 2005 - it wouldn't load up the Navigator view. I have SQL Server permissions. Other users either have no problem, or had the problem but it went away. My problem persists. Anything ideas? Thank you. Andy
Hi pqian and Community:
Thanks for your help! I had confirmed a solution to this problem a month or so ago, but neglected to update this thread and mark it resolved.
The solution: Specify the server port number when adding a SQL Server that uses custom port as database connection, i.e. [DbServerName]:[PortNumber]
Thanks all!
Andy

can you describe what flicker screen is? Maybe a recording or a screenshot would help too.
Also, what OS are you on? Have you updated the graphics card drivers?

Hi pqian,
Thanks for responding! I've attached a video. I get this immediately after I click "OK" from the "Import data from a SQL Server datatbase" screen. I entered the server name and database name. I've checked with a few colleagues that work for them.
Also, I am on Windows 7 Professional. 64 bit. SQL Server 2005. It shouldn't be a problem with the OS or SQL Server version, because it works for others at the company with same/similar setup.
I'll try updating graphics card driver.

I've gone through the steps of graphics card driver update. It says already the latest. Screenshot of driver detail.
Also, I'm using Power BI Desktop, not Power BI Online/365.
I also just tried limiting the amount of data by adding a SELECT statement on the Import data from SQL Server screen - didn't help.

That is just...O.o
Do you know what Internet Explorer version is installed on your box?
