Drilldowns and filters
I have a column chart and a card.
The heirarchy of the data is category > Month > Day > job description.
You view these levels by drilling down on the column chart.
To the side is a card and I need this card to update its value as we drill down through the column chart.
The data for the card is "Damage"
When I am in PBI desktop this seems to work as required. When I view it in the PBI service (Edge) I notice that I have to toggle on/off drill down in order to get the desired result.
If I click a column in the chart then it is highlighted but no drill down and the card updates. But with drilldown enabled the card retains its previously value as we drill down.
This is probably user error on my part so I'd like to learn where I am going wrong.
I want the chart columns to act as drilldowns not as filters and I want the card to update its value depending on where we are in the drill down journey. I really don't want to have to get users to toggle drilldown controls etc.
Hi JayP ,
For the Drill down feature, you may need to select the drill down icon to turn it on, then you have the option of drilling down one field at a time by selecting a visual element. Examples of visual elements are: bar, bubble, and leaf.
If you don't turn on drill down, selecting a visual element (like a bar, bubble, or leaf) won't drill down. Instead, it will cross-filter the other charts on the report page.

Thanks, is there anything else that can toggle this on and off (other than someone clicking it)?
I had the drill down toggled on but sometimes while interacting with the dashboard it would appear to toggle off and act as a filter.- v-xicai

Hi JayP ,
There is no other option or feature to control the drill down, you may need to turn on the drill down icon first of all .
