Drill down should show additional columns.

I have a matrix visual on which I have to apply drill down.

My drill down hierarchy is employee->client.

Originally, the matrix visual has employee, firstdeptcode, firstofficecode,FeeWIP,AdvWIP,NetWip and Unbilled Hours.

When I drill down onto employee, it should show Client,ParentCode,ParentName,ClientCategory,FeeWIP,AdvWIP,NetWIP.

Is there any way by which we can show additional columns in drill down and hide columns which we don't want  to show?

I would appreciate any suggestions and remarks.

    Hi Anonymous

Drill down cannot add/delete columns in your visual .The function you need is Drill Through .

You can refer to the link below to configure drill through .

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-drillthrough

  • Anonymous it is not possible, you can think of using drill thru instead of drill down, on drill thru page you can show whatever you want, you cannot add//remove columns when you drill down.

      Hi Anonymous parry2k .

Yes I know that we can achieve the same using drill through, I just wanted to know whether there is any way to do it in drill down.

Anyways, thanks to both of you for replying.

    Hey Anonymous ,

you can just put all the columns in the rows of the matrix that you want to drill down.

They don't have to be a hierarchy or something similar. The ones you don't need you can remove.

Does this help or did I miss something?

But doing that will change my actual original matrix too.

What I want is that the original matrix should show all the columns and when we drill down, then it should show some new columns.

    Hi Anonymous

Unfortunately, drill down can't realize the function of automatically adding columns, it just drills down in the existing columns.
