The Include in report refresh option only disables automatic data refresh but It does not guarantee that your PBI report will preserve the old schema or ignore broken column references.
Step by step process to fullfill the requirements
- Take a backup of your existing PBIX file.
- Keep the existing table as a static snapshot.
- Disable its refresh.
- Check Power Query dependencies for references to removed or renamed columns( that is the most probable casue).
- Import the updated source as a separate table with a new name.
- Validate existing visuals, relationships and measures.
Important: If Power BI still evaluates the old query, export its existing data to CSV and use that as a static source.
