Date Slicer functionality missing in Service

I created a report in the desktop and added a slicer that contains dates.  The slicer supports the ability to dates using Between, Before, After, List and Drop-Down.  Functionality is really nice.  Unfortunately when I published the report - the ability to select between before and after is no longer supported.  Is there a limitation in the service?  Am I doing something wrong?

    We have reported this issue before.

     

    As confirmed with product team,

    "This behavior is by design. We do not allow users to edit the slicer type in reading mode on service"
