Custom option not available

i do not see custom option under display units in bar chart , any reason for this

  • Hi powerbiexpert22 -The Custom option in Display units is part of visual-level format strings, which were introduced as a preview feature tied to visual calculations. If that preview isn’t enabled, or the Desktop version is older, the dropdown shows only Auto through Trillions.

Go to File → Options and settings → Options → Preview features and enable Visual calculations (or Visual level format strings, depending on your build).                                                                    Restart Power BI Desktop.

Thanks sunilchauhan26 . To clarify: visual-level format strings were originally released as part of the Visual calculations preview (Power BI August 2024 update), so that toggle was required on older builds, though they’re useful even for normal measures ( in one of our project using older version). The Custom display unit is an element-level format string, which Microsoft documents as available only for specific visuals and data labels. On recent builds like 2.158 it should appear under Values → Display units without extra steps, so powerbiexpert22 , updating Desktop is the first thing to try.

      Hope this helps.

  • You can also find in general as well and select the desire filed in applying setting to check the image
