Column vs Measure
I am very new to Power BI and Still not understanding the difference between calculating a column vs calculating a measure.
Below I am working on a DAX that is giving me different values for the same formula.
Column 3 = Divide ( Sum ( column ), Sum(Loads)) = 2.3, 0.24, etx
Measure = Column divided by Loads = Divide ( Sum ( column ), Sum(Loads)) = 3%, 5.9%. which is correct.
The reason I need to use the column is so I can take the average of that column and display it on a grap. I am not able to take an averge of the measure. My question is how could I get the correct results with the Column formula.
Column Loads Column 3 (DAX) Measure ( Loads Divided by Column)(DAX)
0 317 2.32
1 33 0.24 3%
0 79 0.57
2 34 0.24 5.9%
Hi Anonymous ,
You'd better create measures.
Calculated Columns vs Measures
Measure 2 = DIVIDE( MAX('Table (3)'[Column]), MAX('Table (3)'[Loads]) ) Average_measure = AVERAGEX( ALL('Table (3)'), [Measure 2] )If you want to create columns, you can do like this:
Column 2 = DIVIDE( 'Table (3)'[Column], 'Table (3)'[Loads] ) Average_column = AVERAGE('Table (3)'[Column 2])Best regards,

In column you should try lik
Column 3 = Divide ( [ column ], [Loads]) = 2.3, 0.24, etx
Then use Avg Measure = Average(Table[Column 3])
This one is correct
Measure = Column divided by Loads = Divide ( Sum ( column ), Sum(Loads))
