Chart and tooltip feasibility

I have a power bi line chart with year and value , i want to show the graph ordered by value , defaultly it is getting ordered by year , and the tooltip should show the value descendingly with value ...

    Power BI does not expose line chart legend colors to DAX, conditional formatting, or report page tooltips. Because of this, a custom tooltip (table/matrix) cannot automatically inherit or stay in sync with the line chart colors, especially when new years are added.

    Also, native tooltips cannot be sorted, while report page tooltips lose the built-in colored line indicators. This makes it difficult to achieve all requirements together using native capabilities.

    As of now, you can try using a custom tooltip along with manual color logic (via DAX or a mapping approach), but fully dynamic color synchronization with the line chart is not supported.

The native tooltip cannot be sorted, it renders in whatever order the data model returns. The correct approach is a custom tooltip page:

Step 1) Create a new report page → Format page → set Page type to Tooltip

Step 2) Add a bar chart or table visual to that page, with your years/categories on the axis and value as the measure, sort it descending by value

Step 3) Go back to your line chart → Format visual → Tooltips → Type: Report page → Page: [your tooltip page]
