Change Source Problem

I’m trying to change the Data Source for my Power Bi reports to the latest version of MySQL on a new server.

I’ve updated MySQL Connector to v9.0.0 and I have entered the new Host, Database name and login credentials, but the change is not happening.

In Edit Permissions I see ‘You have not approved Native Database Queries’ but there is no opportunity to do so.

I then tried Get Data from MySQL database as an alternative to Change Source, but pressing Connect gave the message: MySQL database  This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used. Learn more took me to the download for mysql-connector-net-9.0.0.msi, already installed.

I would welcome any suggestions to help me Change the Source?

  • In mine I have to have it UNCHECKED which turns off the need for user approval.

Otherwise the refresh gets interrupted with a similar error to yours.

  • Hi PaulSB

Under Options and Settings in the Global options there is a setting for Native Database Queries.

This is on by default and causes an annoying pop up when I execute things like Stored Procedures directly through Power BI. Is yours on or off?
