BUG::Get data from lakehouse SQL endpoint authentication fails

STEPS

0__launch Power BI Desktop version 2.124.1554.0 64-bit (December 2023)

1__In Home tab, click on Get data to expand the drop down list and click on More, which is the last option in the list

2__Select Microsoft Fabric in the left pane

3__Select Lakehouses in the right pane and click Connect

4__Select the lakehouse you are working with in the list that pops up

5__On the green Connect button of the dialog, click the down arrow to see the options list and click on Connect to SQL endpoint

6__There will be a pop up complaining about credentials being invalid (user is logged into Power BI Desktop with the same creds used to log into the Power BI/Fabric service.

7__Do these steps immediately again, now a different dialog pops up, namely an Office365 Pick an account dialog.  Only my corporate user shows up in there.  The user we created specifically for Power BI and under which all Power BI work is done and with which I am currently logged in to Power BI Desktop as well as Fabric DOES NOT show up in this new Office365 dialog.

8__Of course, if I try my user account, the creds don't work.  If I try the Other account options, that is, using the user ID and password of the user currently logged in to both the Desktop and Service, I get the following nonsensical message:

So the question I have... could Microsoft once and for all resolve all these sign in issues and make it less convoluted???

And how can one be signed in and at the same time the service can't authenticate the user??!?  Someone explain that to me.

    Hi Element115 ,

I am using the same version of Power BI Desktop and I am unable to reproduce your problem.

    Please try the following steps:

1.Sign Out and Sign In Again.

2.Cleare the cache of Power BI Desktop and reconnecting.

    Best Regards,

I tried again just now, Get Data-->Select Fabric-->Select the lakehouse etc... and it worked just as it should the first time around.  I didn't clear the cache or do anything else. Just launched PBI Desktop.  Transient random bugs are the worst.  Good luck to the team!
